Is Your Loved One at Risk for a Sedative Overdose
Sadly, never before has the issue of addiction been as serious or as severe as it is now, and never before has there been as much cause for concern regarding it as there is now. In 2015, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officially labeled drug and alcohol abuse and addiction in the United States of America as being a full on epidemic. In the various “strata” if you will of problem classification, drug and alcohol abuse and addiction had never earned the title of epidemic before in our country until 2015.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, as recently as 2016, it was believed that drug and alcohol abuse and addiction was on a big stage that was set for being that of a national emergency if we did not take serious effort to do something about it. Projections are now being made by organizations like the National Survey on Drug Use and Health and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that indicate that if drug and alcohol abuse and addiction gets any worse in this country then by the year 2040 is it is not at all unlikely that there will be 40 million people in this country who are addicted to drugs and alcohol.
For those who are reading this who are already addicted to drugs and alcohol or who are trying to learn more because they know someone who is, this information is probably preaching to the choir. For those involved in substance abuse, it is no mystery or new information or sudden, eye-opening realization that substance abuse is a very dangerous, unpleasant, and serious occurrence for those who are involved with it. Instead, most people want to learn about how to address addiction in addition to learning more about the problem in general.
This is to be understood and is a worthy goal for all to understand it. People expand their knowledge of the problem to become more capable and competent in addressing it, but ultimately they just want to know how to get off of drugs and alcohol. A lot of times, they have the idea that they can do this on their own and want to learn more about that, as much of a failed effort as this is.
More people die from substance abuse than ever did die before, more people are addicted than ever before, more crime is being committed because of substance abuse than ever before, and more families are hurt because of substance abuse than ever before. All in all this is a very concerning problem. We are in crisis for all who get involved with it. Now more than ever we need to take a more firm and direct stance on addressing addiction as it stands in the country today.
It is a pretty well known fact at this point that drug and alcohol addiction is a huge and very critical crisis for all who are affected by it. This is to say that substance abuse, drug addiction, and alcohol addiction is known for being problematic and it is equally known that the best way to address substance abuse is with the help of a treatment center.
